Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region.

What you'll be doing

The Quality and Accreditation Manager Blacktown Mt Druitt Hospitals co-ordinates and manages quality & safety systems across Blacktown Mt Druitt Hospitals.

This includes implementation, management and evaluation of accreditation programs, clinical governance, patient safety initiatives, policy and procedure development, project management and quality improvement activities in consultation with the BMDH Director of Medical Services and Director of Nursing and Midwifery.


The Manager is expected to actively lead and support quality and safety and process improvement including issues analysis, policy development, and evidence based decision making and clinical risk management.


The Manager supports lead committees that are accountable and responsible for driving improvements in patient safety working in close liaison with the WSLHD Clinical Governance Unit to progress District wide initiatives and improve quality.

This includes the secretariat for the BMDH Quality Council, and participation in WSLHD level Committees and undertaking and coordinating a program of clinical audits/ clinical reviews.


The Manager will liaise with the BMDH Quality Council, Facility Leads for National Standards, Service Managers and Heads of Departments to lead the preparation and readiness for the accreditation program at BMDH.

This specifically involves leading the coordination of accreditation preparation, providing expertise regarding accreditation, including:
identification, planning, communication, monitoring and evaluation of actions to comply with accreditation standards.

Selection Criteria:


  • Tertiary health and post graduate management qualifications or equivalent, with substantial experience in quality, safety and clinical risk management within a complex health care environment and a sound understanding of the NSW public health system and its principal functions and interrelationships.
  • Demonstrated management experience with excellent team leadership, problem solving, change management and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, mentoring and training skills to support a range of change management initiatives.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, including the capacity to successfully complete several tasks concurrently and achieve deadlines.
  • Strong relationship building capabilities and influencing skills with the ability to communicate, motivate, consult, and negotiate with senior managers and diverse stakeholder groups including consumers.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills which includes the ability to analyse and synthesise data (including clinical case review) and use it to drive improvement through the production of presentations, reports and submissions.
  • Welldeveloped capacity to work independently with mínimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment, with an understanding of and ability to work with committees.
