About the opportunity


Reporting to the Director of Student Accommodation and Community and supported by a Board of Directors, Student Sport Council, and other advisory groups you will lead an extensive team of students, staff and volunteers.

The General Manager position is hands on, responsible and accountable for setting and achieving the key operational and strategic objectives to ensure UWA is nationally and internationally recognised for participation, performance, and inclusion in sport.


About you


As an experienced administrator and leader, you have the ability to influence and lead a culture that is student and community focused, using inclusively minded practices.

You will be passionate about delivering experience and outcome through sport with the ability to influence outcomes for UWA.

You have demonstrated financial acumen and ability to drive strategic outcomes within budget.

You are confident in developing strong relationships collaborating with national, international and industry partners and have proven experience in sponsorship and philanthropic structure development.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education
  • Extensive and proven leadership experience in managing a diverse portfolio and leading teams in a comparable setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative provisions and duty of care requirements.
  • Substantial experience in the development and implementation of strategic plans, budgets and collaborative agreements
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience reporting to Boards and working alongside advisory and other stakeholder groups.
