The Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity (AFSE) is a life-changing fellowship for Indigenous social equity in Australia, Aotearoa and the Pacific region. Based at the University of Melbourne, the AFSE program represents a 20-year investment into Indigenous-led social change through a powerful network of Fellows.
The AFSE is a program run and delivered out of our Research and Enterprise, led by our Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research - Professor James McCluskey.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Executive Director, you will have broad-based responsibility for the operations of the Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity.
You will be the primary liaison for HR, finance, legal services and other University services as required.As a member of the leadership team, you will play a key role in both strategic and operational decision-making.
Ideally you will possess a demonstrable record of:
- excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
- proven understanding of and experience in the social change sector
- keen strategic mind and stakeholder management skills, including Indigenous stakeholders
- Team management, mentorship and leadership of a small team with a broad remit
As one of several senior leaders within this team you will thrive upon collaborating with both colleagues and team members, and truly enjoy creating a positive team culture based upon community; collaboration and respect.
About You:
We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate their proven track record in senior administrative role(s), preferably in an organisation that deals in addressing Indigenous affairs, social justice, human rights, community development, education, or a related field.
You will additionally have a proven ability working with internal and external stakeholders at the highest levels including the management of global relationships with significant financial and reputational impact on the Program and the University of Melbourne.
- completion of postgraduate qualifications and relevant experience or a relevant qualification and extensive relevant professional experience
- capacity to identify problems and solutions in operationalising a novel project / initiative, & ability to achieve quality outcomes
- capacity to motivate & lead a team and the ability to work with people from a range of cultural backgrounds
- Ability to work proactively with numerous stakeholders across disciplines & sectors to deliver on strategic projects
To be considered for this role you must have current valid work rights for Australia.
A Working with Children Check is a requirement for appointment to this role.
