Our diversity brings a very substantial capability and opportunity for language, be it bilingualism or multilingualism amongst our students and the wider community.

We are a state school with one of the highest levels of enrolments of international students.

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School for PYP and DP, our College offers a wide range of language opportunities from Mandarin Immersion Prep to Year 2; Mandarin as their LOTE from Prep through to Year 8.

The IB Diploma program offers English, Mandarin and Spanish as language acquisition courses. A number of students study Senior External Subject Exams in a language.

Calamvale Community College has a significant number of students who are acquiring English from Prep through to Year 12, some of these students have arrived into Australia and directly into our community with little English capability, so the EALD program is a very important responsibility for the Head of Program - Languages.

  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school department to achieve goals

  • Having knowledge of the IB curriculum, Australian Curriculum and QCAA
  • Managing curriculum, assessment and reporting across all these systems for languages and the EALD programs

It is preferable that the suitable applicant has the ability to teach a language with background experience in EAL English, Mandarin, Spanish, Japanese or French.
