The Commercial division is Allianz Australia's largest distribution channel whose customers include Commercial, Corporate and international buyer groups throughout Australia and New Zealand.

We currently have an opening for a

Liability Underwriter to join the Melbourne team to underwrite liability risk, provide quotations for renewals and endorsements, having regard to the needs and circumstances of customers and to act as a coach and referral point for underwriters.


It will be your responsibility to:

  • Manage workflows (renewals, endorsements etc.) to ensure delivery of quality products and services.
  • Manage relationships across a designated portfolio, with a focus on underwriting property insurances as per delegated authority limits.
  • Ensure business offering is aligned with divisional objectives, portfolio balance and Cycle Management strategies (growth and profit).
  • Maximise retention of assigned accounts and ensure timely review of renewal business in conjunction with internal stakeholders' requirements.
  • Keep abreast of market conditions and trends and maintain a market presence in their region and LoB community within Allianz. Provide feedback to stakeholders and act to capitalise on business opportunities.

Important to your success:


  • Experience in packages or liability insurance, from a broking or underwriting perspective, is expected.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively, organise tasks and manage competing resources and demands.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant regulatory and/or legislative compliance requirements that impact the organisation.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and ability to optimise business value to customers by delivering high quality services and positive customer experiences to sustain and enhance the customer base.
  • Pay high attention to detail by completing tasks with thoroughness and accuracy and has the ability to quickly identify errors or inconsistencies within information.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse complex information, extract meaningful insights and evaluate options for decision making.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with clarity, impact and influence.
