About the role


Mater Private Hospital Redland is seeking a Housekeeping Attendant/Night Cleaner to join them on a casual basis with availability for Night Cleaning Shifts.

You will be responsible for providing effective and efficient support services to our patients, including assisting with non-therapeutic aspects of patient care based on a consumer-focused philosophy and in accordance with hospital policy.


This role requires the incumbent to adhere to the Mater behavioural standards including the Values, Code of Conduct, Credo, Mater Private Person Charter and any other relevant behavioural standards.

Availability across a 7-day rotating roster (Night cleaning from 6:00pm to 01:00am and Day shifts between 6:30am to 9:00pm)


Salary range:
$ $32.09 (Operational Employee OO2) per hour plus superannuation, casual loading, evening shift loading, weekend loading and salary packaging option.


Role Responsibilities:

The key tasks of the Support Services Housekeeping Attendant/Night Cleaner are:

  • Cleaning of patient rooms and public areas.
  • Night Cleaning of the Operating Theatre, CSSD, Recovery areas.
  • Safely transport patients and equipment.
  • Transport blood products as required.
  • Removal of soiled linen, rubbish and sharps containers.
  • Safely driving the patient transportation vehicles.
  • Conduct all other duties as specified in the Housekeeping Attendant/Wardsperson duties document.
  • Other duties as requested from time to time outside of the Housekeeping Attendant/Wardsperson duties document.
  • Perform infectious room cleaning and other cleaning duties as requested by supervisor.
  • Ensure the safety of all people in the hospital by adhering to Work Place Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Clean body fluid spillages within hospital infection control guidelines.
  • Segregation of waste according to waste management protocol.
  • Actively comply with Hospital and Departmental Policies & Procedures.
  • Actively participates in own self development and performance management.
  • Actively support and participate in continuous quality improvement activities by participating in audits and trials, providing suggestions and attending relevant meetings.
  • Successfully completes annual mandatory education.
  • Determine the priority in which tasks are completed.
  • Promote a safe and harmonious workplace for patients, visitors and staff.

About you

  • Availability across a 7day rotating roster. Overnight OT cleaning from 6:00pm to 01:00am (mandatory). Day Cleaning shifts between 6:30am to 9:00pm.
  • Previous experience in a cleaning role in a healthcare, hospitality or commercial cleaning environment. (Desirable)
