About the role


Contribute to effective and efficient laboratory services by sorting and accessioning specimens according to set protocols, providing accurate data entry, assisting with preparatory duties, storage and transport of specimens.

The Operational Services Officer is required to manage internal and external customer enquiries effectively and professionally.

Skills and experience

  • Must be able to work 24/7 ( shift work) roster
  • Receiving, sorting and performing preliminary preparation on specimens for analysis including COVID swabs.
  • External and internal inquiries are managed effectively.
  • Ensuring specimens are stored and transported under defined conditions.
  • Correct information is data entered into the various LIS computer systems
  • Proven ability to produce work of a consistently high standard demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Key board and Data entry skills
  • Willingness to accept additional responsibilities
  • Professional attitude and must abide to strict Confidentiality Guidelines

Essential Requirements:


  • Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
  • Working With Children Check (DHS)
  • Immunisation screening as indicated in the role description.
