About the role:


Knauf is looking for an experienced
Production Supervisor to manage a team in the Plasterboard production line, reporting to the Production Manager.

This is a great opportunity to join our high performing seven day 24/7 operations based in
Port Melbourne, Victoria.


If you enjoy being part of a team, have an extensive knowledge / background in building materials or in a manufacturing operations environment with a natural ability to direct and measure Plant Performance accurately we want to hear from you.

A strong work ethic is key to the role.


Main Responsibilities:


  • Promote and encourage health and safety commitment amongst workers
  • Lead safety standards and role model desired behaviour
  • Manage production performance so that production KPIs are achieved
  • Set manning levels that optimise shift structures and plant efficiency
  • Proactively identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities on engagement, efficiency's, capability and capacity of the plant
  • Manage workforce plan through identifying resource requirements to ensure appropriate skill development and appropriate operator training is in place
  • Negotiate and influence at all levels. And ability to engage the workforce and influence personnel to achieve positive outcomes
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development to improve the skill level of direct reports and reduce operational costs of production
  • Drive production planning initiatives
  • Brainstorm and resolve issues in a timely and effective manner and where required attend customer site meetings and work in partnership with key stakeholders such as Engineering/Maintenance and Quality teams
  • Tertiary qualification in a related field is highly regarded
  • 35 years of solid experience of managing teams in a highly unionised manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record of achieving results for safety, productivity and cost control
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise work commitments to ensure deadlines are met
  • Ability to work 24/7, 12hr D/S & N/S rotating roster, 4 days on, 4 off
  • Team player, can work with multiple departments to achieve outcomes, attention to detail, time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to lead a team with measurable outcomes in a challenging environment
