About Us:


Victim Services, Support and Reform (VSSR) is a part of the Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination division of the Department of Justice and Community Safety and is responsible for coordinating a suite of services for victims of crime in Victoria.


The Victim Services Support Operations team within VSSR is responsible for the delivery of specific services, including the Victims of Crime Helpline, the Victims Register, as well as funding the state-wide Victims Assistance Program to provide eligible victims with flexible case management services to meet their practical, emotional and psychological needs to help manage the effects of crime.


About the Role:


The Victims Register Services Officer is responsible for administrative support to maintain the functions and procedures of the Victims Register, including engaging directly with victims of crime and internal and external stakeholders, and completing detailed case notes and correspondence.


Some of your duties will include:

  • As part of a team, responding to telephone and written inquiries from victims of crime in respect of the Victims Register and other victim services as required
  • Assisting in preparing correspondence and reports and providing information and advice to other key stakeholders regarding the Victims Register and other victim services as required
  • Assisting in the operational function of the Victims Register and other victim services including the provision of information relating to key stakeholders

About You:


  • Demonstrated understanding of the criminal justice system and the victim service system.
  • Experience in direct human service delivery where there are sensitive and complex client needs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the nature and dynamics of family violence, the legislative and service system contexts in which family violence services are delivered and best practice models of responding to victims.
