The Role

Research Engineering (RE), an advanced engineering branch within Defence Science and Technology Group, are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the prestigious team at the forefront of engineering solutions for Defence Research as the Hypersonic Tunnel Manager.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the operations of the hypersonic tunnel facility, ensuring its efficient and effective utilisation.
  • Lead a team of technicians and engineers.
  • Build and sustain effective relationships within a network of internal and external stakeholders in support of hypersonic shock tunnel operational, capability and compliance requirements
  • Contribute to hypersonic shock tunnel research/experimental activities via the provision of specialist technical and administrative advice.
  • Generate new knowledge to produce enhanced capability for clients and sponsors that depend upon hypersonic shock tunnel outputs.
  • Deliver high quality reports, briefs and presentations relevant to shock tunnel activities.

Research Technology and Operations Division (RTO) delivers specialist capabilities to Defence Innovation Science and Technology (IS&T).
