If you are a Sourcing Specialist and looking for your next career move this may just be the right role for you Alstom is currently looking for a Lead Commodity Buyer to join the team in supporting the ramp up of Metallic commodity spend in supporting new projects.


Reporting to the ANZ Procurement Director, you will be responsible for the implementation of the commodities strategy (or define it for specific segment) and manage the specific global supplier panel relationships on Alstom's supplier panel.

You will also be responsible for the commodity Quality, Cost, Delivery & Technical (QCDT) and legal supplier performance management scope and operational procurement responsibility on negotiation, cross sites/businesses bundling.

The role is flexible to be based in either Melbourne, VIC or Brisbane, QLD.


The primary responsibilities for the role will be:

  • Consolidate commodity needs, inputs
  • Build and propose differentiation for Alstom through supplier innovation
  • Participate actively to commodity strategy and panel elaboration
  • Define a strategy for specific segment according to delegation
  • Build Procurement Tender commitment
  • Has an operational procurement responsibility on negotiation, cross sites/PLs bundling
  • Lead Saving Plan by leveraging Design to Cost, LCC, Volumes.

Key Requirements:


  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering is preferred
  • Proven track record in Procrurement/ purchasing role
  • Working experience in a similar industry is preferred
  • Technical and strong market knowledge of the commodity (Metallics)
  • Ability to work in a matrix organisation
  • Strong communicaton skills and stakeholder relationship management
  • Drive and motivated
