Role:


PRIMARY PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION


The Education Support - House Administration Officer fulfils an important student services function with the responsibility for the accurate and timely support to the college's house teams.

It is expected that they will provide a high level of customer service to the student body, staff and visitors to the College and be competent in the provision of up to date and relevant information.

The Education Support - House Administration Officer major function will be absence reporting, issuing of passes and the first point of contact for students presenting to the house teams.

It is important the Education Support - House Administration Officer operates in a consistent, professional, courteous, efficient manner at all times.


ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS AND IMPACT


Kurunjang Secondary College operates four house teams; Barak, Lang, Pyke and Watts with each team overseen by an Assistant Principal, three student coordinators, home group teachers and administration support officers for approximately 300 students.

The team structure provides students with a sense of house identity for the duration of their high school education, enhancing student learning, wellbeing and a safe, orderly and supportive environment for all learners.


As a member of a house team, the Education Support - House Administration Officer act as one of the first points of contact for enquiries received at the house office by students and staff.

The Education Support - House Administration Officer supports the House Assistant Principal and Coordinators with the implementation of student administrative services.

Consistency is vital in all aspects of this role as the dissemination of consistent, accurate information is essential.


CLASSIFICATION CONTEXT AND TASK LEVEL
A position at this level undertakes routine tasks that are usually carried out under close supervision and direction.

Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established and direction is readily available.

Work has little scope for deviation. Problems can usually be solved by reference to well documented procedures and instructions and clearly established practices. Deviation from established procedures will require reference to others for guidance and direction. Assistance is readily available when problems arise.

An experienced employee at range 1 will exercise limited judgement within clearly defined guidelines and well established practices that relate specifically to the tasks performed.


Perform routine administrative support, such as:

  • Preparing standard documentation and data entry that requires little or no manipulation of information and/or data
  • Handling of customer enquiries and referral to appropriate personnel where appropriate
  • Operate and instruct others in routine use of equipment and computer systems
  • Prepare standard correspondence
  • Provide routine support for teachers
  • Communicate with teachers about routine matters
  • Assist teachers with communication with parents about routine matters
  • Accountability relates directly to performance of allocated tasks

REPORTS TO


This position has line management responsibilities to the Principal but on a day to day basis is accountable to the House Assistant Principal and Business Manager.


The Education Support - House Team Assistant is part of the Student Engagement and Achievement Team (S.E.A.T), whose responsibility is to work co-operatively ensuring a productive, efficient workplace.


Responsibilities:

Student Attendance

  • Monitoring of unapproved absences and late arrivals to class, bringing patterns of concern to the coordinator's attention, and calling parents as directed
