Clinical & Liability Claims Manager

Part time 0.6 FTE

Melbourne location - hybrid and interstate applicants will be considered

Healthcare services offered include acute medical surgery, rehabilitation, and mental health.

The role
Support the National Director Medico Legal in the management of clinical claims (medical malpractice) and liability claims (occupier's/public liability) that arise in the hospital setting by acting as an interface between externally appointed lawyers and hospital executive

Provide medico legal advice to hospital staff and other stakeholders

Contribute to the training of clinical and non-clinical staff in risk management and claims process

Assist with the implementation of upgraded claims management software and cost control software to improve the claims management process and reporting capability

Capabilities for success
Demonstrated experience in claims management either with an insurer, a self-insured, or in private practice litigation

Knowledge of litigation process and civil procedure steps in defending a claim

Ability to effectively support the implementation of change in a complex environment

Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)

Qualifications for success

Mandatory:
Minimum 3 years of experience obtained in a claims management role with an insurer, insured or obtained in private legal practice

Tertiary qualification in law, health or business

Desirable:
Eligibility to hold a practicing certificate as an Australian legal practitioner
