System Planning Manager

About the role
This team, within the System and Network Planning function, helps to:

  • Facilitate the connection of new generation and customer loads,
  • Conduct power system studies, reporting and investigations,
  • Promote the development of the power system for optimal performance, and
  • Assist in the energy transition to higher renewables.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership around DER uptake & adoption of new power system technologies.
  • Facilitate power system operational & Loads and Circuits reporting.
  • Develop & deliver strategic initiatives for optimised System Development, including short to medium term capacity planning & support of both regulated & business development activities.
  • Mentor and cultivate future talent within the team.
  • Provide guidance on system planning studies that need to be undertaken to ensure that Horizon Power's microgrids are resilient and secure with increasing renewable energy generation and reduction of traditional hydrocarbon generation.

About you
In addition to sharing our passion, to be successful in this role you will have:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or suitable trade qualified.
  • Flexibility to trave regionals where required.
  • Have a passion for renewable energy generation technology and interested in emerging technology that could assist in transitioning Horizon Power's microgrids to being capable for running on higher amount of renewable energy.
