Position Information:

Epping Boys High School (enrolment of 1400 students) is a proudly comprehensive high school for boys.

A Middle School and Senior School structure recognises and enhances the learning and wellbeing needs of all students and is complemented by the Boys to Men Program which engages boys in learning, promotes wellbeing and builds young men who are connected to their community.

There is a strong focus on leadership, enhanced learning experiences and engagement. All boys are encouraged to strive for excellence and foster a civic sense of responsibility.

Epping Boys High School has a long tradition of academic and sporting excellence and enjoys a high profile in music and the creative and performing arts.

With more than 100 co-curricular activities offered and each year group involved in charity fundraising the development and nurturing of the whole boy is crucial to the ethos of the school.

A diverse student community with an Inclusive Education Unit and 59% of students coming from a language background other than English contributes to an inclusive and dynamic learning environment that is supported by an active and involved P&C with a strong commitment to supporting the strategic directions of the school.


Selection Criteria:

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in Departmental wellbeing policies and procedures, including evidence of highlevel organisation and management of whole school wellbeing, in a large complex environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead, implement and evaluate strategic evidencebased wellbeing initiatives or whole school programs to improve wellbeing, attendance and engagement for boys.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships and engage students, staff, parents and other stakeholders across the wider school community.
  • A proven commitment and ability to work as part of the executive team focusing on the school's strategic vision and whole school priorities with the ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.

General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
