The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Fellow (Colorectal) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Provide leadership and teaching to the junior members of the surgical department
  • Perform clinical duties and responsibilities between those of an advanced surgical trainee and a consultant surgeon
  • Supervise rotating junior Medical Officers
  • Practice patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Provide ethical decision making in the achievement of organisational goals
About you


To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Hold a Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in general surgery (or equivalent overseas qualification)
  • AHPRA Registration
  • While not mandatory, Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) accreditation for endoscopy is desired
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Hepatitis B and COVID 1
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Be available after hours in accordance with the consultant's afterhours roster
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

Salary

  • Temporary part time (up to 12 months, 62 hrs p.f.)
  • Base salary ranging from $ $82.99 per hour

The unit services the entire Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales area. A well-established multidisciplinary team that boasts a close working relationship with the other departments. Based in Southport.
