As part of this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with the Manager Statutory Planning and Building to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of statutory planning services through the coordination of the statutory planning team.
  • Collaborating with the Manager Statutory Planning and Building to develop and improve the operation of the Statutory Planning team. This includes the development and regular reporting on the annual Business Plan, budget preparation and administration, risk identification and management, and the establishment of the Workforce Plan.
  • Providing leadership and highlevel technical guidance to the planning team on statutory planning matters, ensuring capabilities and practices are aligned with statutory requirements, organisational objectives, and the City's vision for the built environment.
  • Offering accurate highlevel technical advice to internal and external stakeholders regarding planning and development matters.
  • Representing the City at the State Administrative Tribunal and the Development Assessment Panel when required, showcasing expertise in planning matters.
  • Attending Agenda Briefing Forums, Elected Member Information Sessions, and Council meetings.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in town planning or a closely related profession.
  • Demonstrated substantial experience in statutory town planning.
  • Proven effective leadership, supervisory, and management skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in related fields such as strategic urban planning, urban design, heritage planning, social planning, environmental planning, community engagement, architecture, and place planning.
  • Expertise in sustainable urban development.
  • Experience in developing and monitoring budgets.
  • Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence.
