About Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3:

Gold Coast light Rail has transformed public transport on the Gold Coast, helping create an integrated network that connects more people to more places in one of Australia's most dynamic and fastest growing cities.


John Holland is GoldlinkQ's nominated design and construction contractor for GCLR3, to extend the existing light rail network by 6.7kms from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads, including 8 new light rail stations, two new light rail-bus connections, and intersection upgrades along the alignment.


Jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments, and the City of Gold Coast, this city-shaping project will link communities to business centres, shopping, dining, education, and medical facilities and cater to the Gold Coast's expected population growth in the coming decades.


As construction of GCLR3 gets underway, John Holland is actively recruiting for a talented and driven Sustainability Advisor to join our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of this iconic Gold Coast project.


About the role:


The Sustainability Advisors role will be to assist the project in meeting their sustainability requirements by ensuring that the project achieves sustainable outcomes that are of value to our customers and meets contractual obligations.


Responsibilities of the role include:


  • Drive a culture of contemporary thinking across the project to help achieve the environmental, social, financial and governance goals of our customers and communities
  • Support delivery of the project specific sustainability goals
  • Provide technical direction to design, construction, commercial, operational and other key project teams in relation to sustainability requirements
  • Develop and deliver sustainability training programs for relevant project personnel and contractors, and support sustainability management tools training
  • Accelerate learning and development of the project team through coaching, sharing knowledge and mentoring
  • Compile and review sustainability rating tool submissions
  • Monitor, measure and evaluate the projects sustainability performance
  • Report against the project sustainability objectives on a regular basis
  • Drive sustainable outcomes during all phases of the project

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering, Science, Sustainability or other associated disciplines
  • 35 years' experience within the construction industry
  • Prior exposure to ISC v1.2 &
  • IS Accredited Professional (ISAP) preferred, but not mandatory
  • Proficient at measuring, analysing and communicating sustainability performance
