About the role

  • Be an effective member of a small team of mechanical (fitting) tradespersons responsible for the repair, installation, commissioning and testing of all mechanical trade related plant, equipment, services, and facilities within the Departments responsibility area.
  • Assist other Hospital staff in the fulfilment of their duties.
  • Assist the Building, Engineering and Maintenance Service Department become a best practice service provider.

You will be assessed on your ability and aptitude to demonstrate the following key attributes including skills, knowledge, experience and personal qualities.

Within the context of the 'Key Accountabilities', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:


  • Sound experience in and extensive knowledge of the desired level of trade skills within work environments similar to that found in Health Facility engineering maintenance and installation service organisations.
  • Proven ability to prioritise works, accomplish project timeframes and make responsible
  • Proven experience in maintaining large chilled water air conditioning and control systems, sterilisation equipment, boilers, hospital beds trolleys, medical gases and all hospital systems and equipment.
  • Proven ability to interact and communicate effectively both verbal and in writing with staff from all levels of various organisations.
  • Proven ability to produce an effective work output in terms of both quality and quantity without direct supervision.
  • Excellent knowledge of or an ability to acquire knowledge of procedures, policies, regulations and standards which impact upon the position, in particular Public Sector Guidelines, and a knowledge of contemporary human resource management issues such as workplace health and safety, equal opportunity and antidiscrimination.
