About the Business Unit


The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, comprising Corrections Victoria, Justice Health and Justice Services, plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.


Corrections Victoria is responsible for the implementation of policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.


Corrections Victoria also sets strategy, policy and standards for the management of the state's system of correctional facilities whilst also developing programs for the management and rehabilitation of prisoners and the community-based supervision of offenders.


As part of the CJS group, the Dame Phllyis Frost Centre (DPFC) is a 568 bed medium to maximum-security facility for female offenders located within the West Metropolitan Area, Department of Justice and Community Safety.


About the Role


The Executive Assistant is a key role within the General Manager's office at the DPFC and is responsible for preparing correspondence on behalf of the General Manager, collating documents to respond to various issues and requests, providing advice for the preparation of briefings, assist the Performance and Planning team and manage the compilation of monthly reporting requirements for the Executive.


This position will require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.


About you

  • Demonstrated experience in or understanding of working within a correctional environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of a full range of executive, confidential support functions at a senior level.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Therefore, there is a requirement that all DJCS employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to undertake duties outside of their homes.


At interview stage and prior to commencement of employment with the department, you will need to provide evidence that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 with three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.


Upon commencement of employment with the department you will be required to provide evidence that you have an up-to-date vaccination status within the timelines specified by the department into the DJCS Service Portal.

This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).


Acceptable evidence includes:

  • COVID19 digital certificate (available via your myGov account)
  • Your immunisation history statement (available via your myGov account)
Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
