The Salvation Army Doorways program provides person-centred care to community members who are in a financial crisis or suffering other forms of hardship or distress.

About this role


We are seeking a values-driven Emergency Relief Assessor, you will be responsible for assessing community member needs and determining appropriate financial assistance (emergency relief) and/or referrals.

You will successfully

  • Conduct interviews and assessment for emergency relief (ER) with community members over the phone in accordance with Doorways guidelines
  • Determine the assistance to be provided in line with Doorway's standards of practice
  • Community members are assisted to access support services through referral and advocacy to service providers within and external to The Salvation Army, where appropriate
  • Actively support the local mission delivery model by working collaboratively with Corps


There are 2 available roles, one is a full time position and the other is a 6 month contract based in Nambour, Sunshine Coast.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Level 3 award.

You will have

  • Diploma level (preferred) or Certificate IV (minimum) qualification in a related field (Community Services etc)
  • Experience working in the community services sector
  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds would be beneficial.
  • Experience working in a fastpaced environment (contact centre) would be highly regarded
  • A current and valid QLD Working with Children's Check
  • A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
