About Your Role:

Reporting to the Group Head of Internal Audit and Assurance, the Group Internal Auditor assists the Group Risk and Assurance team achieve Downer's strategic, operational and project objectives through:

  • Supporting delivery of the Group Risk and Assurance Internal Audit Plan, in addition to ad hoc management requests and investigations;
  • Assessing and reviewing business project processes and project disciplines, ensuring they are established and operate adequately and effectively; and
  • Supporting effective risk management across the Downer Group.

Responsibilities for the Role include:


  • Identify and assess key risks and impediments to the delivery of process, projects or business objectives
  • Deliver internal audit fieldwork with quality and in a timely manner, by performing meaningful analysis, identifying key risks and controls, and identifying key issues and opportunities for improvement
  • Present internal audit engagement results to Business Units, Business Functions and the Downer Group (as required)
  • Prepare internal audit and advisory reports for presentation to leadership / senior management
  • Assist with the execution of fraud investigations and other adhoc advisory reviews
  • Assist senior management to implement new risk management standards, systems, frameworks and procedures

About You

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Accounting / Finance Business related field
  • Experience working in an internal audit background; either in public practice or medium large entity
  • Experience working in construction, infrastructure, manufacturing and/or services industries advantageous
  • High level of ethics and a positive attitude
  • Accuracy, quality and timeliness of fieldwork, reporting and communication
  • Ability to develop, maintain and influence business relationships at all levels
  • Negotiation & Influencing skills
  • Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills
  • Proven commitment to the principles of service quality improvement, continuous improvement and organisational development
  • Strong Excel experience (Pivot tables and V-Lookup) & Power BI advantageous
