An exciting opportunity exists to join Zurich's Life & Investments Finance team as Head of Actuarial P&L Management.

  • This key leadership role will oversee the management of life insurance financial performance reporting, providing strategic advice, insights and driving innovation through data and automation in an agile environment. Leading a team of ten, you will manage financial performance in the actuarial context, as well as provide support and advice to the Chief Life Actuary. As you partner with various teams across the business, you will help to effect optimum utilisation of Zurich's overall business assets and resources in Australia and New Zealand.

  • Overseeing P&L management and understanding the drivers and dynamics of the financial performance of the business.
  • Delivering IFRS17 actuarial valuation outputs and IFRS17 profit reporting.
  • Ensuring local and group processes are governed and controlled in accordance with Group, regional, and local internal/regulatory policies
  • Analysis of profits, key drivers of results; providing insights from financial reporting
  • Regulatory reports as required (including APRA reports and financial statements)
  • Delivering actuarial aspects of planning and forecasting, preparing Group submissions, and supporting the overall business plan.
  • Working with teams such as data, administration or claims, to ensure the provision of accurate data for the calculation of reserves and analysis of profit and loss drivers
  • Driving continual improvement and efficiency in processes and methodology, including automation where appropriate.

  • Important to your success:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia or equivalent body
  • At least 10 years post qualification experience including senior actuarial and management roles
  • Strong knowledge of local statutory/regulatory guidelines and rules in the Australian life insurance industry
  • Deep understanding of actuarial processes and techniques in a life insurance context
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build and mentor high performing teams
  • Experience partnering with multidisciplinary Finance teams
  • An analytical mindset and innate ability to implement solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in writing Boardlevel reports
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
