Position Information


Arthur Phillip High School is situated in the progressive and rapidly expanding CBD city of Parramatta, bringing an exciting and dynamic energy to the school.

The school is culturally diverse and has a student population of 1460 with 91% having English as an additional language or dialect (representing over 40 different cultures).

The new school boasts facilities that incorporate future-focused, flexible teaching spaces with adaptable/moveable furniture and room configurations.

The learning spaces are technology-rich to serve multiple learning contexts from large class groups to small clusters, providing better opportunities for innovation, collaboration, personalised and individualised learning.

Arthur Phillip High School incorporates science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM) areas, fitness labs for physical education classes, and wet and dry studios for music instruction and practice.

Specific Selection Criteria

  • Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead the development of innovative teaching and learning practice to engage students within open learning spaces.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work as a dynamic member of the school executive team in the implementation of a shared visions and the school's strategic directions.
  • Capacity to incorporate literacy improvement programs within the English KLA with a specific understanding of EAL students and their learning needs.

General Selection Criteria

  • 1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
