How will you make an impact?:

With a focus on both tactical and strategic sourcing elements, the Purchaser will be responsible for completing Material Requirements Planning (MRP) recommendations and manual requisitions to ensure production and aftermarket spares have the right volume of materials available at the right time.

The Purchasing team are also involved in analysis of Plan for Every Part (PFEP), inventory and supplier performance and future demand liabilities to assist in optimizing material flow.


Key Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Handle Supplier relationships as related to administration, supply and operational issues
  • Overall management of responsible supplier list for MRP recommendations for ordering, Stock levels, PFEP and KPI's
  • Review requirement for economical orders for overseas suppliers should they not have been able to be ordered
  • Identify and execute on opportunities for sourcing or PPI savings through the supply chain
  • Responsible for reviewing the high dollar value indents daily and report on progress of shipments
  • Work cell metric boards including SQDC accountability.
  • Generate Counter-Measure reports for misses and gaps in metric data.
  • Training new joiners and monitoring performance during training and probation
  • Act as escalation contact and trouble shooter in case of operational issues in the supply
  • Initiate, lead and support improvement initiatives
  • Support and deputize for the Materials Manager (as appropriate)
  • Adhere to OHS policies and procedures and ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment
  • Demonstrating commitment and behaviours in line with the Thermo Fisher Scientific ANZ EH&S Beliefs.
  • Meeting their EH&S obligations, responsibilities and accountabilities as detailed in legislation and the EH&S Management System.
  • Actively participating in the EH&S program and support continuous improvement in all areas of EH&S.
  • Reporting all EH&S hazards and incidents in a timely manner.
  • Participate in injury management and return to work following a workplace injury/illness.
  • Adhere to all Quality policies and procedures

What you will bring to the team:

  • 5 years in procurement/purchasing ideally from within a manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of supply chain operational processes
  • Extensive knowledge of how to import product from overseas suppliers
  • Tertiary qualification in supply chain /logistics Skills & Attributes
  • Good digital literacy
  • Understanding of purchasing processes from start to completion
  • Understanding of inventory management concepts and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy Other Important Information
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement
  • Ability to understand forecasting, reorder points,
  • A complete understanding of ABC analysis of Inventory control
  • Ability to prioritize workload and consistently meet requirements in appropriate timeframes
