Position Information:

Rouse Hill High School opened in 2009. In 2023 student numbers will be approximately 1200 with 74 teaching staff. The school currently has one autism class. Stage 6 students study the Higher School Certificate using the compacted curriculum model. The school has a focus on collaborative practice to improve teaching practice and student outcomes. A small but active P&C Association supports the school.


Selection Criteria:

In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to effectively design, lead and evaluate evidencedbased and datainformed practices aligned to the school improvement plan with a view to meeting and exceeding negotiated targets.
  • Demonstrated high levels of expertise and interpersonal skills in developing and managing the performance of individuals and teams, with a strong working understanding of school improvement.
  • A highly visible and proactive leader with demonstrated skills and experiences working collaboratively with the senior executive team to lead change and drive a culture of high expectations.
  • Ability to effectively manage competing daily priorities and complex case management while leading strategic directions.
  • Highly approachable and responsive leadership with proven ability to actively engage students, parents and our diverse community in collaborative strategies to achieve desirable outcomes for students while building trust.

General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
