About the role
This is a

permanent, full-time position working

38 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 4.00pm) and will be based at our

Ulladulla Works Depot.

Duties
Reporting directly to the Team Supervisor - Southern Construction, the focus of this position is to:

  • Support the Ganger with all daily tasks.
  • Operate minor plant or light trucks pertaining to maintenance and/or construction works as directed by the Supervisor and/or Ganger.
  • Carry out routine manual labouring tasks without direct supervision, whilst accepting responsibility for correctness and quality of tasks assigned by the Supervisor or Ganger.
  • Support and supervise staff in the daytoday operations of the district.
  • Ensure the work area's compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies and ensure that risks are managed.
  • Undertake Risk Management inspections of Council's assets using electronic mobile devices as required.
  • Assist in Council responses to emergencies and other operational needs, including being available for 'call back'.
  • Projects and asset types may include, but is not limited to, roads and road related infrastructure, drainage, kerb & gutter, bus shelters, footpaths / cycleways / walking tracks, parking areas, traffic facilities, bridges, boat ramps, fences, recreational facilities, seawalls, viewing platforms, parks & reserves, and flood mitigation assets, etc.
Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.


Skills & Experience
In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • School Certificate or equivalent
  • Minimum of 12 months' work experience in civil construction and/or maintenance activities
  • Demonstrated experience in operating minor and major plant and/or light trucks
  • Demonstrated experience in concreting
  • Minimum NSW Class MR Driver's Licence or equivalent licence valid in NSW
  • Current RMS Issued Traffic Control or SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Cards 'Traffic controller' and 'Implement traffic control plans' or willingness to obtain
  • Current NSW General Construction induction card (white card) or accepted interstate alternative.
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship
