About the job

The role of Channel and Category Development Manager will work closely with our retailers across Australia, developing strong working relationships to provide superior products and services to our consumers and shoppers.

You will work closely with data to make informed decisions as well as involvement with internal innovation projects, feeling confident to challenge the status quo to achieve the desired outcome for both Danone and its customer.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Category Development
  • lead the category vision and strategy agenda across all channels, from portfolio innovation through to range review excellence
  • Profitable Revenue and Category Growth lead commercial pillars of CPI planning and promotional review and strategy whilst developing plan and recommendations across the portfolio
  • Channel Development build strong partnerships with priority retailers across Australia through exceptional communication, data and insight led recommendations and collaborative initiatives
  • Business Planning and Monitoring lead the annual planning process with key customer teams
  • Relationship Management be the key point of contact for customers, ensuring timely response as well as accurate information to take the existing relationship to the next level
About you

You will be comfortable making decisions with data (sales, commercial and shopper) to provide confident recommendations both internally and externally from the business.

You will enjoy nurturing relationships, always seeking out the opportunity to find ways to improve our ways of working whilst remaining courageous and empathetic to positively challenge ideas where needed.


Ideally you will have:

  • A minimum 35 years experience working in a Category or Commercial customer facing role
  • Previous experience working with corporate grocery customers
  • Confidence using scan and shopper data to make decisions
  • Experience leading and providing insights into projects
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships both internally and externally from the business
  • Space management experience is desirable however not essential
