Our client is seeking a Safety and Development Officer for an initial period of 3 months with possible extension.

Kwinana location. Part-time - 30 hours per week.

Contract duration:
Initially 3 months with possibility of ongoing casual hours

$35.00 per hour plus Super

Duties:

The Safety & Development Officer (OH) coordinates work permits to ensure the safety of all personnel performing work at the Outer Harbour and assisting the Port Safety Coordinator (OH) in managing Port compliance and safety training initiatives.


Duties also include:

  • Review and authorise Permit to Work forms, ensuring the form has been completed in full and signed by all relevant parties
  • Ensure a level of risk management has been provided for all Permit to Work forms
  • Ensure all relevant Work Certificates and supporting documentation is attached to the Master Copy of the Permit to Work form
  • Coordinate isolations of Plant & Equipment with the Terminal Operations Manager and the Duty Electrician
  • Audit and monitor critical risk audits to ensure validity
  • Maintain communication with Operations and Maintenance and coordinate with the relevant parties to minimise any impact on operations
  • Provide support to supervisors by advising of relevant safety topics for discussion in toolbox meetings.
  • Other duties as required
Ideally we are seeking enthusiastic, driven applicants who possess:
Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
  • Train small groups, Certificate IV or Diploma in Workplace Training & Assessment
  • Experience in delivering workplace training and / or in the development of workplace training plans
Technical, Professional and Specialist Skills

  • Knowledge & experience in Mine Safety & Inspection legislation, regulations, policies & practices
  • Knowledge & experience with permit issuing
  • Report writing & analytical skills
  • Teamwork skills
