About the role:


The purpose of this role is to promote a greater organisational understanding of the organisation's environmental obligations and the actions required to actively manage potential environmental impacts.


The role will lead the development, execution and monitoring of programs to uplifting environmental performance as well as identify, prioritise and sustainably manage environmental risks throughout our operations.


This role is the organisation's key advisor on technical environmental matters including land management, waste management and stormwater protection across our large asset base and operational footprint.


The role will work across many areas of the organisation from construction, field operations, asset management, property and financial management teams; manage external technical consultants and engage directly with regulators and the community.


What you'll deliver:


  • Provide effective technical support that focuses on implementing environmental risk management actions into our day to day business activities
  • Review and update processes and procedures to deliver environmental outcomes
  • Implement our environment improvement programs
  • Conduct regular assurance activities such as site/field assessments and audits
  • Ensure environmental incidents and issues are managed and investigations are effectively completed with learnings embedded across the organisation
  • Educate and train our people in environmental obligations and updated processes and procedures

To succeed in the role you'll have:

  • Bachelor degree in environmental management, science or equivalent
  • Strong work experience as an environmental management professional within the utilities, construction, oil & gas, or other relevant industry
  • Experience in delivering environmental improvement programs and influencing internal stakeholders
  • Experience with working with regulators and managing environmental investigations
