The Department of Transport and Planning oversees key planning, transport and land use policy decisions and management across the State.

Policy, Precincts and Innovation (PP&I) Group is responsible for providing policy direction, planning and leading innovation for integrated simple, safe, connected journeys.

Mobility and Insights is a division of PP&I and is responsible for the delivery of better outcomes for users of the transport system through developing and coordinating customer and transport system insights, strategy and innovation.


About the Role


This role supports the work of the Transport Strategy team in delivering a strategic, long-term and outcomes focussed future for the transport system.

This role is to facilitate the process of strategy definition, communication, objective setting and delivering on outcomes.

The role is also responsible for undertaking research into key transport issues, preparing briefings for senior executives and Ministers and engaging with internal and external stakeholders to share ideas and develop solutions.

Transport Strategy's remit is flexible, assisting DTP Leadership and PP&I as necessary.

The team works closely and flexibly to deliver high quality outputs in a timely manner, and the team's core functions include strategy development and strategic alignment assurance on a range of topics, as well as management of strategic relationships with bodies such as Infrastructure Victoria.


On a personal level you will be able to work collaboratively with the team, support other in challenging situations and are able to engage other teams to share information to respond to issues.


Position Outcomes

  • Work closely with colleagues in the transport portfolio and external partners to shape, develop and ensure alignment with a strategic direction for Victoria's transport system that is focussed on achieving desired social and economic outcomes.
  • Provide strategic transport advice based on the outputs of thorough analysis and consultation with others.
  • Contribute to specific projects or areas of work from conception to delivery as required as part of the Transport Strategy team.
  • Support engagement activities with internal and external stakeholder groups to increase understanding of underlying issues and collaboratively identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare high quality briefs and presentations that clearly communicate complex concepts and information to colleagues, senior executives and ministers.

Qualifications and Experience

Desirable

  • Experience in strategy development and/or business analysis
  • Experience of working in the transport sector and/or government
  • A relevant tertiary degree
