Role Introduction


To be the central co-ordination point for all Emergency and Accident (E&A) and business continuity capability and readiness in the region and to act as an extension of the Head Office GSORM / Business Resilience team.


To partner with the Regional General Manager, Regional Airports Manager, Country Managers, Airport Operations Managers and Cargo Managers to ensure robust E&A and business continuity plans are in place at all locations and that there is regional and organisational alignment in planning and response.

This role is preferred to be based in Sydney but it is open to Melbourne and Brisbane applicants too.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Coordination

  • Ensure that E&A plans conform to requirements established by the Group Crisis Management Manual and interim requirements issued by GSORM Business Resilience
  • Support the Regional General Manager (RGM) and the Regional Airport Manager (RAM) in ensuring that E&A plans are in place, are fit for purpose, practiced (and if necessary, executed) at locations in the region.
  • Support the RGM and RAM in ensuring that all regional business critical activities are identified and have the business continuity plans as per the Group Crisis Management Manual and interim requirements issued by GSORM Business Resilience.

This is not limited to:

  • Loss of access, systems or supply
  • Shortage of employees
  • Event specific (earthquake, civil unrest, marshal law)
  • In coordination with GSORM Business Resilience, facilitate and/or participate in any Group level E&A and Business Continuity Plans exercises within the region
  • For new port startups or change of locations, as per the Group Crisis Management Manual, and interim requirements issued by GSORM Business Resilience, and new port start up guidelines, assist the RGM & RAM to research, create, and document port E&A and business continuity plans in advance of the port's opening date
  • Facilitate and participate in any internal and external E&A meetings, workshops or exercises at all locations in the region
  • Attend and participate in Group E&A and Business Continuity Plan meetings, workshops, or exercises at designated locations as requested by GSORM Business Resilience (as practical)
  • As requested by the RGM, RAM (or delegates), or as mandated by local law or regulations coordinate with all relevant external agencies to ensure all E&A and Business Continuity Plan activities can be carried out. This is not limited to Red Cross, interfaith agencies, airport authorities, handling agencies, local/federal government agencies and other
Training

  • As per the Group Crisis Management Manual and interim requirements issued by GSORM Business Resilience, coordinate and deliver E&A and Business Continuity Planning training as required in the Region
  • Oversee new port startups or any changes in location, management, or third party support, assist local management to conduct training, briefings & educational sessions
Administration

  • Assist the Airport Operations Managers and Country Managers to source and purchase all necessary equipment and supplies for E&A and Business Continuity Planning readiness
  • In coordination with the Regional General Manager and Finance team, prepare and manage the regional E&A and Business Continuity Plan budget
  • Support local teams with E&A and Business Continuity Plan
Safety, Compliance and Quality

  • Assist the Regional General Manager, Regional Airports Manager and the and GSORM Business Resilience team to conduct Quality Control checks as required
  • Follow up to completion on any action items arising from Quality Control checks, Quality Audits and exercises to ensure a continuous improvement mindset and culture exists
  • Through training and quality control activities ensure all Cathay employees across the region are clear on their roles and responsibilities in a crisis / E&A event
E&A

  • Emergency and Accident and Crisis Response responsibilities as required
  • Performing remote duties (in BNE/SYD) for a role in the Crisis Response Centre in Hong Kong
  • Being dispatched to the Crisis Response Centre in Hong Kong as relief to the Hong Kong Group Business Resilience team
  • Being dispatched to another Region to provide relief support to the affected Regional Business Resilience Specialist

Requirements:

Academic Qualifications

  • High School graduation
Knowledge, skills, training and experience

  • Familiarity with, or previous experience in, emergency response, business continuity, or related activities is strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the aviation industry (and with preferably Airport experience/exposure)
  • Solid time management and coordination skills
  • Proven ability to multitask
  • Strong stakeholder and relat
