***: The Policy Officer, Victorian Collaborative Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing Establishment will support the establishment of this new and innovative entity within the mental health and wellbeing system.


As the engine room for the transformed mental health and wellbeing system, the Collaborative Centre will bring together people with lived experience, researchers and clinicians to establish best practice in mental health and wellbeing services.

The Collaborative Centre will be the first of its kind in Australia conducting research and providing a full suite of mental health services to adults and older adults, helping to translate cutting-edge research into real system improvement.

It will embody a new approach to mental health and will be characterised by collaboration, responsiveness and continuous improvement.


The Policy Officer will support the Establishment Team with broad policy and project work in line with the Collaborative Centre's Statement of Priorities.

This will including diverse problem solving and reporting to the Collaborative Centre Board, the Minister and Department of Health on strategic matters.

An understanding of public policy and research will be highly desirable in this role.

People with lived experience of mental illness or psychological distress and their families, carers and supporters are strongly encouraged to apply.

Accountabilities:


  • Contribute to the development and provision of advice and sound policy recommendations to senior management and government.
  • Undertake research and contribute to the development of a range of policy and initiatives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
  • Assist the monitoring and reporting on high priority issues, risks and trends and assist to prepare and present comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex issues.
  • Support effective working relationships and the flow of information across the department and with key external stakeholders.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services
