About the role:


As the Maintenance Technician, reporting to the State Maintenance Manager, you are integral to the business achieving its targeted production efficiencies by ensuring maximum available uptime for plant and equipment.


You will be responsible for the installation and commissioning of Industrial Equipment and managing the breakdown and preventative maintenance of plant equipment to minimize production interruptions and ensure continuity of operations.

This is a hands-on mechanical role, with opportunity for travel assisting sites with equipment installation and support requirements.


_We are considering Mechanical Fitters with interest in the electrical trade. We will provide training to help obtain your Restricted Electrical Licence._

Key Duties:

  • Create and execute preventive maintenance plans to reduce downtime and extend the lifespan of machinery e.g. tasks like lubrication, calibration, and replacing worn components.
  • Monitor inventory of spare parts and consumables, organise and request quotes from suppliers and obtain correct approvals to progress order.
  • Maintain appropriate records of maintenance activities, including repairs performed, parts replaced, critical spares inventory and any adjustments made.
  • Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvement.
  • Propose and implement enhancements to increase efficiency and improve overall production capabilities.
  • Participate in equipment upgrades, modifications, and installations, ensuring that new components integrate seamlessly with existing systems and meet safety and quality standards.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines while conducting maintenance activities to ensure the wellbeing of oneself and colleagues. Identify and address potential safety hazards.
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a variety of steel processing equipment. Such as beamlines, Pack saws, Drill lines, profile cutters and Cranes
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in equipment, identifying root causes of malfunctions and implementing effective solutions.

About your experience:

You will be someone who values teamwork, safety and continuous improvement. You will have job stability and autonomy.

  • Trade Qualified Mechanical Fitter & Turner or Boilermaker/Welder with a Restricted Electrical license
  • Keen to undertake a dual trade role and upskill
  • Experience in PLC and maintaining CNC equipment essential
  • Industrial manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrate experience with preventative and breakdown maintenance
  • Ability to prioritise and work effectively to meet deadlines
