Our Queensland Government client is seeking an experience
Project Officer.

Reporting to the Senior Project Officer, you will work in a hands-on role using Project and Change Methodology within a fast-paced and agile environment.

Key accountabilities for the role include reviewing and critically analysing the existing functions, processes, and procedures for rostering frontline firefighters across regions and employment locations.

You will support project working groups and key stakeholders to identify the necessary business improvements and develop new processes, procedures and work instructions to implement the new holistic rostering system for FRS frontline crewing.


These roles are initial 6-month contracts starting ASAP with potential to extend, based between the Kedron and Albion offices in North Brisbane.

Your first 2 weeks will be in the office, following that there is flexibility to work 2 days from home pending business needs.


Key accountabilities:


  • Contribute to the effective management and planning, monitoring, control and delivery of the program of work.
  • Engage stakeholders to identify, define and document business requirements.
  • Produce updated process maps, documents and other artefacts as needed.
  • Assist with the facilitation of workshops and meetings to document actions and decisions.
  • Work interoperably with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure project delivery is compliant with project and change management methodologies and governance frameworks.
  • Support the achievement of program and strategic objectives, and contribute to a high performing and engaged team.

Skills and abilities required:


  • At least three 3 years of experience as a project officer in business improvement or operating model change projects.
  • Experience in the preparation and review of complex reports, briefs, submissions and correspondence relating to policy, legislation and project deliverables in accordance with departmental requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies, with the ability to work within a team using recognised project management methods, tools and processes.
  • Business process driven analysis skills used to adapt and implement fit for purpose solutions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working with all stakeholder levels and leveraging organisational mechanisms to reach stakeholders.
  • A selfstarter, takes initiative, able to work autonomously, ability to manage their timelines and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience in database administration and information management practices.
  • Highly desirable:_
  • Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent experience in developing new doctrine (policies, procedures, work instructions) and training materials in a government or business environment.
  • Demonstrated collaborative working style, with ability to foster productive working relationships and deliver tangible outputs within project timeframes.
