About the role
The Technical Publishing Coordinator role provides first-level assistance to Production Editors in dealing with technical conversion challenges (e.g. PDF, XML, HTML) and technologies.


In addition, this position oversees the standards material for the Standards Australia (SA) library, the corporate catalogue, technical committees, and a larger stakeholder group.

The role acts as a hub for communication between Standards New Zealand, Standards Australia e-Commerce site, and our distribution partners.


What you'll do

  • Review workflows, evaluate new layouts/setups with complex texts, and help the editorial team choose the best workflow practises to facilitate successful publishing
  • Collaborate with software vendors to report defects
  • Monitor and maintain content load and its currency on eCommerce sites (SA Website and Mobile App).
  • Review and manage the Catalogue and Sectors on the SA public website
  • Produce PDF drafts, and send these copies for review and approval by the project managers and production editors
  • Verify the metadata, including the designation, title, dates of approval, ISBN, and Committee Representatives, and use the approved dates for public comment period and final publication
  • Send files with joint publication drafts, publications, and pertinent metadata to distributors and partners outside the company
  • Maintain procedures/work instructions relevant to all aspects of the role to support employee onboarding and for knowledge sharing.
  • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) responsibilities to ensure that the published standards (all approved formats) match the master source draft.
  • Maintain the data quality of published standards

About you

  • University degree or equivalent experience
  • Must have strong experience in Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Knowledge of XML/HTML (experience using these is advantageous)
  • Knowledge of electronic publishing
  • Knowledge in content management
