About the opportunity
This 4-year apprenticeship is a fantastic opportunity to work towards becoming a professional in your preferred trade.

Throughout the first 3 years of your apprenticeship, you will receive on-the-job training whilst completing a Certificate III in Horticulture (Parks and Gardens) at TAFE, with your fourth year being purely practical experience.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will work amongst over 200 qualified tradespeople across multiple disciplines in Council to work towards delivering projects and maintaining Council's assets.


With over 900 parks and reserves owned by Council, you will be required to assist in the maintenance of these assets, along with gaining hands-on experience in the Council nursery identifying, maintaining and propagating individual plants.

You will have the opportunity to work in all aspects of the horticulture industry in local government including but not limited to bushland and wetland maintenance, commercial nursery operation, arboriculture, formal gardens and general park maintenance.

This apprenticeship is great for someone who is interested in this field of work, is hands-on and enjoys working in a close team environment.


As part of the gardening apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to work in all aspects of the horticulture industry in local government including but not limited to bushland and wetland maintenance, commercial nursery operation, arboriculture, formal gardens and general park maintenance.

The salaries and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Blacktown City Council Enterprise Agreement.
