About the Team


The Rheinmetall Defence Australia (RDA) Training team is responsible for the design and delivery of high volume, complex training solutions to the Australian Defence Forces and other customers, across the range of RDA products.


About the Role


Duties include overseeing the development of maintenance instructors as SMEs on both mission system and training equipment, conducting training resource development, course management, coordinating the rostering of sub-contracted training staff, co-ordination with sub-contractors for their general workplace administration, the supervision and conduct of course instruction for both internal and external courses, and providing mentoring and leadership to maintenance Instructor staff.

This role is responsible for maintaining source documentation including existing learning materials, and assisting in the development of online, web-based and multi-media based learning materials.


The Technical Training Lead also represents RDA on maintenance specific training issues, with the Customer (Commonwealth of Australia), and with other Rheinmetall entities.


  • The general and generic duties of the Technical Training Lead include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead small teams and other stakeholders in the delivery of Training for high complexity and technology military equipment projects as part of Rheinmetall's Support System solution;
  • The Training Team Leader is responsible for the development of the Instructor;
  • Lead the conduct of the Development and Implementation phases of the ADDIE (Analyse, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate) model;
  • Support Analysis and Design phases of the ADDIE (Analyse, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate) model;
  • Conduct course management duties applicable to the delivery of individual courses;
  • Lead and oversee the development of lesson plans and supporting materials;
  • Monitor and evaluate trial courses to enable product refinement;
  • Coordinate and document working groups, requirements conferences and other engagement activities with customer representatives, design teams and other system stakeholders;
  • Contribute to the design and commission of bespoke elearning resources, Part-Task Trainers, simulation systems and other training equipment solutions as part of a holistic approach to training system design;
  • Participate as the training analysis and design SME in formal and informal training review and approval activities with the Commonwealth and other stakeholders, including trainingspecific milestones such as the Learning Review Board (LRB) and Learning Implementation Board (LIB);
  • Support other Support System review and approval activities such as PDR (Preliminary Design Review), DDR (Detailed Design Review) and SRR (System Requirements Review) including addressing training outcomes from milestone reviews;
  • Develop and sustain functional relationships and conduct regular liaison and engagement of key stakeholders across the Commonwealth, other customers and internaltoRheinmetall stakeholders; and
  • Other tasks directed by the Training Manager.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

  • Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or an equivalent trade qualification;
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE 40110);
  • Indepth knowledge of Adult Learning Theories;
  • A working knowledge of the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL);
  • Familiarity with ADF Trade Training
  • Relevant product knowledge or the ability to gain such knowledge;
  • Ability to travel interstate and internationally when required;
  • Able to regularly work in alternate locations, in Australia or overseas, for up to 4 week's duration; and
  • NV1 secutity clearance.
