About the role


The Strategic Support Manager (SSM) performs a critical role in identifying and planning future support needs for the Anzac Class Ships and support systems.

The SSM is responsible for leading Strategic Supply Chain initiatives, as well as identifying and championing relevant continuous improvement opportunities.


The SSM is responsible for Alliance strategic requirements determination framework and establishes, maintains, and enhances strategic supplier relationships across the Defence Industry network to foster the optimum levels of supportability for the ANZAC Class.

The SSM is the senior functional lead for Integrated Logistics Support in the Warship Asset Management Agreement (WAMA) Alliance.

The SSM reports to the Deputy Alliance General Manager and is accountable to the Client's Principal Support Manager (PSM) for attainment and retention of Authorised Support Organisation (ASO) status in the Alliance.

The SSM also deputises for the Optimisation Director as required.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead strategic supply chain initiatives to provide continuous improvement to supply support outcomes across the Alliance;
  • Identify optimisation opportunities via development and management of reporting tools, performance indicators, and supply governance framework;.
  • Influence high performance sourcing activities and procurement operations with the aim of driving the material cost down while improving materiel availability and improving the quality of the products delivered;.
  • Monitor the performance of suppliers utilised by the Alliance Participants; and
  • Maintain oversight and, where required, provide direction in pursuit of Alliance procurement, inventory and materiel support management objectives.

About you
Essential

  • Demonstrable extensive supply chain experience at a senior level including procurement and contractor management;
  • Experience in the use of process optimisation tools and techniques such as LEAN Six Sigma;
  • An acknowledged leader in the supply chain field with a comprehensive and wideranging suite of skills to support that position;
  • Extensive knowledge of support and logistics policies and procedures and resource management; and
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of Integrated Logistics Support, Life Cycle Costing and Logistics Cost of Ownership principles.
Desirable

  • Experienced in Asset Management.

Essential Compliance Requirements:


  • Must either hold, or be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance at the following level:


  • AGSVA Negative Vetting

  • NV
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card);
  • No restrictions to access For Official Use Only (FOUO) level or ITAR controlled material;

Financial Delegation

  • Ensure that financial activities are managed within agreed financial delegations;
  • Must either hold, or be eligible to obtain and maintain, an Australian Defence Security Clearance at the following level;
  • AGSVA Baseline Clearance
  • Current Motor Vehicle Driver's Licence.
