About the opportunity:

The Actuarial Analyst is responsible for assisting the forecasting and reporting actuarial manager.

This includes utilising analytical skills to support and operate various actuarial valuation models, analysing key product performance indicators, and establishing assumptions and running forecast models throughout the year.

You will also be involved in preparing various Premium Round submission templates and reports and providing actuarial support to other business units.


How will I help?

  • To identify and leverage potential insights and opportunities for optimising the health insurance business, by liaising with other units.
  • To extract and quality check data from various data sources for gross margin analysis and assumption setting for the financial forecast model.
  • To assist with the preparation of the annual Financial Condition Report for the Director of Actuarial, to present to the Board and submission to APRA.
  • To provide forecast assumptions on matters relating to membership, products and benefits.
  • To prepare or assist with the preparation of Actuarial Advice as required under the Actuarial Advice Framework to the business or Board.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the Actuarial Managers or Director of Actuarial.

What do I need?

  • Recent graduate/progressing through part 1, 2 or 3 of actuarial exams
  • Up to two years of actuarial work experience desirable
  • Strong technical skills, particularly in MS Excel and SAS
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Have a proven track record of being able to work with nonactuaries and with different levels of management.
