About the role
The administration officer is to assist in the facilitation of service delivery in the hospital setting.


The key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Provide first point of call, reception and telephone response service for patients and/or relatives on arrival to the department and ensure re-direction to the appropriate area for care by health professionals, using tact, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Register patient data onto relevant electronic databases and ensure patient data is updated in a timely and accurate manner. Actively support the use of telecommunication technologies for the purpose of providing health care services across geographic, social and cultural barriers.
  • Ensure the accurate completion of all forms especially the Patient Election Form and obtaining the patients signature.
  • Aid other staff within a team structure to ensure priority tasks are completed and deadlines met.
  • Demonstrate high work ethics, the ability to work autonomously and a high level of pride in their work.
  • Build relationships with customers, using strong communication skills and negotiation skills to understand customers' needs and to deliver a service that meets their needs and policy guidelines.
  • Actively contribute to maintaining a safe workplace that values the health and safety of coworkers, clients and visitors.
  • Actively contribute to developing and maintaining a culture where staff are vigilant to risks to themselves, their coworkers, clients and visitors (including health and safety, business and operational risks).
About you

  • Demonstrated effective customerfocused service within a confidential working environment.
  • Welldeveloped written and oral communication skills with an ability to effectively interact and negotiate with all levels of staff and the public in accordance with confidentiality guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish work priorities and meet deadlines in a constantly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member with a high level of autonomy to manage daily workloads and to contribute towards achieving the goals of the Health Service.
  • Knowledge of or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of basic medical terminology to extract and interpret pertinent information from patient medical records and hospital information systems.

Mandatory Requirements:


  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
