Monash Health is excited to announce a part-time temporary position within its General Genetics Department, located at Monash Medical Centre Clayton.


  • You will be part of a small team of intake assistants
  • You will be part of a medium sized multidisciplinary team of doctors, genetic counsellors and administration.
  • You will provide assistance with processing new referrals, triaging incoming correspondence and results, and receiving telephone calls from patients and doctors.
  • You will provide support to the clinical team, and administration team

About our General Genetics Department at Monash Health
Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 18,000 people across a range of specialities.


The General Genetics Department sees prenatal, paediatric and adult patients to provide assessment, management advice, education, counselling and support for a wide range of genetic conditions.


About The Role
We are a medium sized, busy department. We are a friendly, welcoming and supportive team. The department sees prenatal, paediatric and adult patients, for a wide range of genetic conditions.

This role does not involve cancer genetics as there is a separate Familial Cancer Centre based at Monash Medical Centre.

The role is part-time (0.3EFT, 22.8 hours per fortnight), temporary for 12 months, based at Monash Medical Centre Clayton.


About You
You are currently studying a Master of Genetic Counselling Course, about to commence, or studying a different related course. You have some knowledge and understanding of genetic counselling, including medical, genetic and psychosocial aspects. You have excellent written and verbal, English communication skills.

You thrive working in a fast paced environment as part of a multidisciplinary team and are a considerate and collaborative team member.

You are a proficient computer user, including excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new programs quickly.

You will also need to have Australian working rights.
