The Role


Sandstone is currently looking for a motivated Commercial Manager to work with our legal, sales and business units teams to oversee the creation, negotiation and management of new client, existing customer and partner contracts.

This role can be full-time or part-time with flexibility around working hours.


This role would suit someone that likes to take a collaborative approach with team members and stakeholders to obtain the best result possible and to build their knowledge.


Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Draft and review contracts: Responsible for preparing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts to ensure that they are in line with Sandstone's risk appetite, policies and legal requirements;
  • Contract Negotiation: The Commercial Manager will negotiate the terms of the contracts with clients, suppliers and other thirdpart stakeholders to ensure that the organization's interests are protected;
  • Contract Management: The Commercial Manager will manage the contract lifecycle, from the initial negotiation phase to the final execution and postexecution phases, to ensure that all parties adhere to the terms of the contract;
  • Contract Register Ownership: The Commercial Manager will create, manage and own the Sandstone Contract Register. This register will be a tool used by the business to manage contracts in a timely, commercial and risk mitigating manner and will be visible to all critical stakeholders to support the management of our customers relationships;
  • Legal Compliance: The Commercial Manager must stay uptodate with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure that the contracts they oversee are compliant with these requirements;

Risk Management:
The Commercial Manager will identify and mitigate risks associated with contracts, such as legal, financial, and operational risks;

  • Collaboration with internal departments: The legal contracts manager will work closely with other departments within the organization, such as finance, procurement, and sales, to ensure that contracts are aligned with the organization's overall strategy and goals;
  • Stakeholder management: The Commercial Manager will manage relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure that contracts are executed smoothly and any disputes are resolved in a timely manner

Objectives:


  • Managing the contract lifecycle and contract register;
  • Providing timely and accurate advice;
  • Assisting business stakeholders to meet commercial, legal and risk objectives (where possible);
  • Identify opportunities and risks that may help or hinder our business goals and strategy; and
  • Working responsively to protect Sandstone's interests

About you

  • 3+ years of postqualification experience in commercial and/or contract management working in the technology, cyber security, and/or financial services sectors.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and guidance in drafting and negotiating commercial and information technology contract agreements.
  • Capacity to work with General Counsel to advise, respond to, and communicate on a wide range of legal, commercial, and regulatory issues (for AU, NZ & UK customers).
  • Ability to work with, support, and create scalable contract frameworks, leading to productive commercial processes.
  • Strong negotiation skills together with demonstrated commercial judgement.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and influence effectively across all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical, conceptual and problemsolving skills to identify potential areas of dispute and advise and implement appropriate strategies for timely resolution.
  • Must have a desire to learn and use knowledge to improve skills.
  • Must be able to both accept feedback and give feedback on contract requirements, in order to find the right outcome for Sandstone.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines.

  • Ability to work flexibly under the UK and NZ time zone where required.
