We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, capable, and reliable person to fill the role of Cleaner on a Casual basis.

This will be an operational cleaning role where you will perform regular daily cleaning duties to maintain the cleanliness of both indoor and outdoor areas of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and be part of a dedicated cleaning team.

Some of the things you'll be doing:

  • This role will be responsible for the physical cleaning of the Sanctuary's facilities, toilets, public areas plus internal offices, kitchens, food and beverage outlets, lunchrooms and other areas.
  • A key part of this role is to have a genuine customer service focus to provide friendly helpful information about the Sanctuary facilities and attractions to our valued guests.
  • This role will require having a flexible and helpful outlook to assist with projects and other department needs as required.
  • This role will require extensive walking, bending, lifting, and carrying, in an outdoor environment, in all weathers.
  • The roster will include weekday and weekend shifts, as well as occasional evening shifts.
  • Safe use of equipment and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is an essential part of this role.
  • Pay and work conditions are under the Amusements, Events & Recreations Award 2020

What we are looking for:


  • At least two years of relevant experience with supervising a commercial cleaning team is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures and usage of cleaning machinery.
  • Previous experience with working productively within a small team, must be a cooperative team player with a friendly and positive approach.
  • Can demonstrate a flexible, cooperative, 'can do' attitude. A friendly, motivated, and calm manner is essential
  • Meticulous approach to sustainability initiatives with regards to cleaning and waste management.
  • Has physical fitness to work outdoors in all weathers, walk long distances, carry a backpack of 15kg for prolonged periods, empty bins, with chemicals and capably perform all elements of a cleaning role.
  • Ability to adhere to W.H.S guidelines/policies and practices. Experience in working safely with commercial chemicals is essential.
  • Has acceptable level of personal presentation and communication to be able to interact in a friendly, professional and courteous manner with Park visitors, staff and volunteers.
  • Must hold current Driver's licence. First Aid qualifications will be highly regarded.
  • Must be comfortable to work in an environment with mammals, birds and reptiles including snakes.
  • Knowledge of the attractions of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary would be an advantage.
