Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across three campuses in the north-east of Melbourne and state-wide.

We have a highly engaged, diverse and collaborative workforce that is unified by our purpose, which is to help people live healthy and fulfilled lives.

About the Nutrition and Dietetics Department

We have around 40 staff members across three sites - Austin (acute care), Repat (sub-acute care) and Talbot (rehabilitation), providing services to inpatients, outpatients and home & community programs.

We operate as one department and come together for staff meetings and continuing education.

We work in six clinical streams and have portfolios to support the work we do in staff education, research, quality improvement, student training, food service, nutrition support and workforce operations.

The environment is vibrant and fast paced, friendly and supportive.

About the role
You will be part of a team of three people who provide clinical backfill when staff take leave.

You will be expected to work in a wide variety of clinical areas and specialties across all sites, with training and support provided as needed for new/less familiar work areas.

The areas we work in include renal, general medicine, spinal, respiratory, neurosurgery, cardiology, stroke, neurology, endocrinology, ICU, GI surgery, gastroenterology, ENT, liver transplant, medical oncology, radiotherapy, haematology, geriatric medicine, general paediatrics, paediatric eating disorders, adult mental health and eating disorders.

You will work under the direction of the Grade 4 workforce operations lead, and daily under a clinical team leader in the area you are working in.

Your work allocation will usually be done about one month ahead but may change at short notice. Weekend work is an option.

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • At least three years' experience in a large, fast-paced hospital environment who has worked in a range of clinical areas across inpatients and outpatients.
  • The ability to work independently, be resourceful and selfsufficient.

  • Willingness to be flexible, adaptable, and open to different ways of working.
  • The qualifications, knowledge and skills outlined in the selection criteria.
