An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced mental health nurse with a strong interest in and commitment to community mental health to join the very experienced and dedicated Northern Beaches Community Mental Health Services (NBCMHS) as Clinical Nurse Consultant 2 for the service.

The Northern Beaches Community Mental Health Service (NBCMHS) aims to instil hope, promote well-being, and support recovery in the lives of adults living in the Northern Beaches area who are affected by severe and enduring mental illness.

We provide an assertive and intensive care coordinated service, focused on the individual needs of each consumer. The NBCMHS aims to make a positive difference in the lives of those with whom we work.

Every consumer is allocated a Care Co-ordinator who will be the key contact to support individuals develop their recovery plan and personal goals.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) within Mental Health Drug and Alcohol (MHDA) Services leads and supports quality patient health outcomes with a focus of recovery across a range of health care settings.

_The NSLHD Nursing and Midwifery Workforce will be compassionate, competent, confident, contemporary, capable and committed to leading person-centred health care_.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert nursing who will provide leadership, advice and recommendations on all aspects of nursing and consults on matters relating to the safe and appropriate use of nursing practices.

The CNC will formulate and implement policy, guide practice development, and engage in education and research activities.

The CNC is responsible for the provision of clinical supervision to nursing staff and acts as a role model, providing nursing care on a regular basis.


_People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply__._**- Registered with Authority to Practice with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum five years full time post graduate experience with 3 years full time equivalent in the specialty field. In addition the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards Masters level qualification.

  • Extensive experience in mental health nursing with current mental health, drug and alcohol clinical knowledge and clinical problemsolving ability with working knowledge of the NSW MH Act 2007 and all relevant policies and procedures.
  • A commitment to excellence in mental health nursing practice including leading of practice improvement and practice change initiatives and continuing professional development with ability to meet all of the CNC Domains.
  • An ability to work across multiple teams and MDT's to ensure the provision of support to clinicians across the mental health service and delivery of high quality care that is evidence based.
