About the role
Commercial Cleaning Services Division - Based in Hawthorn, VIC 3122


The Safety Advisor ensures that the company complies operationally with contracts in line with health and safety regulations and any non-conformances are rectified in a prompt and effective manner.

The position will initiate, build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders while being the key contact point for all enquiries related to safety compliance both internally and externally and draft correspondence and reports as required.

Further, this role is responsible to ensure all compliance requirements of the business are met at all times and to ensure that contactors are compliant.


Key Responsibilities for the role - not limited to**:

  • Manage ARA WHS Management System in line with ISO 45001 standards
  • Advise managers to ensure the highest standards of safety to protect the health and safety and wellbeing of our people and ensure compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Lead and support others on incident investigations and implement returntowork plans
  • Conduct safety inspections, site risk assessments, review and maintain SMWS and SOP library, current chemical register and site folders
  • Develop and deliver toolbox talks and other site activities to mitigate risk or improve safety performance and educate employees, business leaders and contractors about safety issues, requirements and expectations.
  • Identify trends and continuous improvement opportunities in safety practices and processes
  • Establish new safety initiatives and campaigns to improve safety performance and ensure new concepts are implemented aligning with the company's strategic goals (Training and Safety Communication).

Skills & experience
You will be an experienced Health and Safety Advisor.

You always strive to do your best and with a continuous improvement mindset with a wealth of knowledge in acts and regulations.

You will inspire a proactive health and safety culture through your demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to best-practice Health and Safety processes

  • Tertiary qualification in WHS Management (Certificate minimum)
  • Knowledge of OH&S Acts and regulations.
  • Extensive experience in a similar Health and Safety Advisor role | 5 years minimum
  • Experience in the construction, utilities or fieldservices sectors is highly desirable
  • Subcontractor management experience is highly desirable
  • A strong systems and process focus, including reporting, KPI's competency assurance and health surveillance
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office suite
  • ICAM or similar certification is highly desirable
  • Initiative and a proactive approach to work and undertaking tasks outside of core requirements with a growth mindset

  • Must pass hold a valid Working with Children's check
