Payments System Operations section within Payments Settlements (PS) have an opportunity for a secondment for an Assistant Manager. This 12-month secondment is based at the banks Head Office Site (HO).

About Payment System Operations


Payment System Operations section is responsible for the day-to-day operation of mission critical systems which support the Australian financial system.

These systems include the Reserve Bank Information and Transfer System (RITS) and the Fast Settlement Service (FSS).


The Assistant Manager will work as a liaison among stakeholders in order to elicit, analyse, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems for the upgrade of the Bank's service management system, Crisis Incident Communications and Community of Interest Network (COIN) migration with a focus on Payment Settlements requirements.

The role also assists with providing efficient administrative and operational support functions for RITS and the FSS.

This includes operating as a member of the RITS Help Desk and the provision of first level support for internal business units and external members.

Key Objectives- Lead the planning, co-ordination, testing and verification of system upgrades and changes. Provide effective operational, administrative, first and second level customer support for business systems.- Ensure that daily processing of files, transactions and other operational tasks are completed.- Provide business operations expertise and guidance to external and internal customers in relation to business processes.- Conduct regular reviews of business operations to ensure operational controls are efficient and remain relevant.- Monitor systems and liaise with stakeholders to facilitate early detection and resolution of issues.- Ensure that activities comply with industry regulations and manage fraud and risk consistent with the Bank's policies.- Assist with the planning, co-ordination, testing and verification of system changes.
  • Maintain appropriate contingency arrangements for systems/operations/customers/stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For


Someone with operational experience who is interested to broaden their operational experience in a fast paced and highly critical business operations area of the Bank.

The role will require you to be a dynamic self-starter with strong coordination abilities, being able to demonstrate your abilities in managing and adapting to team requirements.


To be successful you should have the following:

  • Experience in a critical day to day operational environment involving tight deadlines.
  • Experience in planning, co-ordination, testing and verification of system upgrades and changes.
  • Knowledge of (or interest in) high value payments and settlements practices.
  • Well-developed knowledge of customer support principles, monitoring and administrative requirements.
  • Experience assisting and collaborating in the development of detailed support procedures, user guides and other operational procedures.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information is essential.
  • Maintain appropriate contingency arrangements for systems/operations/customers/stakeholders.
