Monash Paediatric ED/Monash Children's PICU - Joint Training Position


An exciting opportunity exists for a combined PEM/PICU year with successful applicants spending 6 months full time in each department.


Joint Paediatric ED Fellow/PICU Registrar Training Position

Paediatric Emergency Department


If you enjoy working in a supportive, dynamic, evolving environment, with a wide diversity of patients then Monash Medical Centre's Paediatric Emergency Department is the place for you.

The new paediatric ED at Monash Medical Centre is co-located next to the Adult ED but staffed separately. We are the paediatric tertiary referral centre for south-eastern Victoria. Monash Children's new hospital facilities opened in 2017, further establishing Monash Health as a leader in paediatric care. MMC is accredited for 12 months of PEM training.


Paediatric Intensive Care Unit
The Monash Children's Hospital PICU is the newest of Australia's tertiary Paediatric ICUs. It is embedded in the state-of-the-art Monash Children's Hospital in Melbourne.

The unit is one of only two Paediatric Intensive Care Units in Victoria and provides a broad range of general paediatric, subspecialty paediatric and paediatric surgical intensive care.


The PICU is led by a group of dedicated PICU consultants, an enthusiastic team of nurses and committed allied health professionals.

We believe in supporting each other, in being kind and in providing the very best care to the children and families in our unit.

The Monash PICU is accredited for training by the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand (CICM).


About You
You're an independent, highly motivated trainee looking to work in a dynamic, well supervised environment.


What you need:


  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications
  • Working with Children's Certificate
  • Joint trainee with RACP and ACEM for Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
