About the Role


The purpose of the NDIS Specialist Support Coordinator is to work within a therapeutic framework and removing barriers for NDIS participants to ensure the individual is linked into a range of relevant services and their knowledge and quality of life is increased.


To be successful in this, implementation will focus on informal, mainstream and community supports, as well as NDIS funded supports.


The role is Part time with Work from home and/or working from our Adelaide office can be negotiated keeping in mind that majority of support required across Central Coast area in NSW.

Remote work can be delivered for some aspects of the role, however face to face work and some travel may also be required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the participant to implement their NDIS plan, including assistance to identify and select providers and build their capacity in understanding their plan.
  • Highly honed customer service skills; person centred planning, goal setting with participants and review.
  • Able to build rapport and maintain relationships with a range of people and possess strength in negotiating good outcomes for participants.
  • Understanding and keeping up to date with the NDIS legislative framework and processes, and the ability to produce quality outcome focused reports.
  • Consistent achievement in an outcomes focused framework to ensure participants are supported with their goal attainment.
  • Working collaboratively and contribution to a high performing team and participation in supervision.
  • Comply with all Life Without Barriers policy, code of conduct, procedures and practices, external funding body requirements and legislation.

Skills & Experience

  • A Degree qualification in Allied Health Services, and current registration with the appropriate professional body
  • Experience creating positive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders on behalf of clients
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating personal planning processes
  • Strong analytical and research skills and the ability to maintain your focus whilst managing competing demands
  • A professional contemporary outlook supporting people with disabilities through focus on promoting their individual need, skill, ability and personal goals
  • Current valid Driver's Licence

Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthen and enhance our client's ability to coordinate supports and participate in the community.
  • Regularly monitor our client's NDIS plan to ensure services are being delivered within their allocated budget.
  • Ensure mainstream services meet their service obligations to LWB clients (i.e. housing, education, justice, health)
  • Build the capacity of the LWB customer to achieve greater independence to selfdirect services and supports in the longer term
  • Provide the LWB customer and the NDIA with reports on outcomes and success indicators, within the agreed reporting frequency

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications including: Diploma in Disability; or Certificate III or IV in Disability or equivalent;
  • Demonstrated experience in working with people with a disability and mental health issues, including supporting people with disability to develop positive relationships with stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to engage with clients and their families to support them as participants of the NDIS
  • Strong written and computer skills for the creation of plans, programs reports, correspondence and other documents
  • Established time management, problem solving and conflict management skill
  • Ability to think creatively and use initiative, to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team using strong coordination, leadership and peer support skills
